In Cash Money Dee-1 Lil Wayne Say what? whatsBeef? You Mad? or Naw? Young Money

N'awlins Rapper Dee-1 Speaks on Mixtape Banned, and Paying Off Student Loans

The New Orleans-raised rapper, Dee-1, whose real name is David Augustine, used to teach middle school in Baton Rouge. Then, in 2015 he signed a major label record contract with RCA's Inspiration imprint which eventually led into a tour.

A few months back on Sway's Universe, Dee-1 explains why his Lil Wayne-inspired Separated at Birth mixtape was banned.

I'd like to apologize to all the fans. This is a project that was needed in hip hop and i was excited to give it to you all. All i can say is that 1. this industry is truly crazy smh, 2. some bold actions have taken place behind the scenes, and 3. some people fear what the truth sounds like. Trust me, if no one threatened legal recourse, I would still drop it because I worked hard on this and i think this music would bless all who hear it, and add a much-needed perspective to hip hop. The topic of my personal safety was also brought up to be honest, but truthfully God has me covered so I was neeeeeeeeeeeeeeeever worried about that. Until further notice, the #SeparatedAtBirth mixtape has been BANNED. Unfortunately, i need for orangemixtapes.com to not post the mixtape as of now until things clear up. Sorry for the wait.

Dee goes on to say,
"I’m not doing my music for him to like or dislike,” Dee-1 said at the time. “I’m doing it for the fans to see that this is someone who heavily influenced me, but I’m choosing to take a direction with my music to where I want to be a role model. Lil Wayne doesn’t seem to be concerned with being a role model through his music, through the content.”

Dee-1 addresses whether or note his safety was in jeopardy after beef sparked with Cash Money Records:

"The topic of my personal safety was also brought up to be honest, but truthfully God has me covered so I was neeeeeeeeeeeeeeeever worried about that,” Dee-1 says. "Until further notice, the#SeparatedAtBirth mixtape has been BANNED. Unfortunately, i need for orangemixtapes.com to not post the mixtape as of now until things clear up. Sorry for the wait.”

In a new music video posted to Facebook on Feb. 11, Dee-1 celebrates paying off his student loans, dancing at a toga party, celebrating in front of Tiger Stadium, rhyming Equifax and eating ramen noodles.

Since posting to social media, "Sallie Mae Back" has been viewed about a million times.

In text excerpts in the video, Dee-1 explains what inspired it: "After making the minimum payment on his loans each month (well, some months, lol) Dee-1 signed a record deal and decided to use a chunk of his money to completely finish paying Sallie Mae back."

The video opens with a school administrator rattling off documents he needs from a line of students. Then the party starts.

Sallie Mae responded to Dee-1's new track on the rapper's Facebook, commenting on his post with the video's link: "We're all in the office singing along with you! Love, love, love the hook. Congratulations on your success!"

Some may also remember that back in 2001, Dee-1 took a stab at not only Lil Wayne but at Jay-z and 50 Cent. Check out the video below:

In Birdman Cash Money Lil Wayne Say what? whatsBeef? YMCMB

Birdman and Lil Wayne Finally Squash Beef but Not Legal Woes

I guess 2016 is looking better for both Birdman and Lil Wayne. It appears they both have put their issues asside over the weekend. Birdman took the stage at LIV nightclub in Miami alongside Weezy in a show to show their united front.

Although, Lil Wayne's lawsuit against Cash Money is still active, Birdman told the crowd that the bond with his 'son' is unbreakable.

“This my motherfuckin’ son and I’ma die for him, I’ma live for him, and I’ll motherfuckin’ kill for him, ya heard me?” he said. “That ain’t gon’ never change. It’s YMCMB for life.”
Birdman then subliminally addressed those who have had his name in their mouths. It's speculated that he was talking about Rick Ross, who possibly dissed him on his Black Market song “Color Money.”
“But you bitch asses that be sayin’ my name, bitch, I’ma pull up,” he continued. “And I ain’t gon’ pull up talking, believe that. Rich Gang for life.”

Check out Birdman's attempt to solidify their relationship below:

ForeverMeah says... Lil Wayne has been trying to leave Cash Money for over 10 years. But like most habits it's hard to shake. I wish these fellas the best.

In Birdman Drake G.O.O.D. Lil Wayne Meek Mill PushaT Say what? whatsBeef?

King Pusha Speaks On Birdman Not Paying Lil Wayne; Dake vs. Meek

Pusha T, the newly assigned president of G.O.O.D. Music, has begun celebrating his inauguration with the release of a new song called “Untouchable.” Which sparked the debate - "Who's Pusha talking about?" - Here is the main lines in question:
“I’m aiming for the moguls/ Why y’all n—as aiming at the locals?/ And rap n—as broke like them, they’re mere hopeful/ Still wishing on a star/ The last one to find out that Baby owns the cars.”

Leaving many to speculate - Is he talking about Birdman?

In a recent interview (below) Pusha dropped his 2-cents on the Birdman/Lil Wayne situation:
"It's corny - If you steal something and you stealing something contractually. That's like the lowest form of a thief - its like a cat -burglar.
It's not even respectable in no way shape or form. We don't respect that.
I ain't respect Baby in long time"

But wait, Pusha's not finished. He also dropped some jewels on the infamous Drake vs. Meek Mill beef:
"I don’t know what to actually think of it. I just feel like the principles of 2002 aren’t the principles of 2015. You know? I listen to both, I listen to both Meek music, I listen to Drake music, both, you know. I don’t know, I just watched how people handled it, and I watched how the media handled it, and I just have to say that—you don’t crucify people who didn’t lie to you. And I sort of feel like people tried to crucify Meek, but he didn’t lie." (source)

ForeverMeah says...

(first thought that came to my head) "I ain't just up here, rappin' and tappin' / Spittin' and skittin' and shit, naw, not me / I'm not you, I'm not you rapper, I'm not you" -Pusha

In Birdman Cash Money Celeb Drama Lil Wayne Say what? Slim Jesus Young Money

So....Birdman Tried to Sign Slim Jesus to Cash Money?

Slim Jesus, (the Caucasian drill rapper from Ohio) who has openly admitted that he wasn't actually about the street life, is apparently still a hot commodity. Slim initially blew up off his song, "Drill Time," and it now appears that labels have since been calling the young rapper to try and lock down a deal. One of those labels calling was Cash Money and Birdman, and there is a video of his conversation with Slim to prove it.

The call was recorded by King Yella, who works with Slim, and included Baby selling Slim on the Cash Money Records lifestyle and how their system would best fit him as an artist.

Earlier this month, Yella said in an interview that Slim hung up on Birdman when he called about signing him, but it's unclear if this was that same call.

It's worth noting that Birdman laughed at the idea of Lil Wayne leaving Cash Money when it was brought up, and said that he isn't going anywhere. Seeing that Slim literally lit a record contract on fire in an Instagram post last week, it doesn't seem likely that he'll be joining Cash Money anytime soon.  (source)

In Andre 3000 Billboard Ghostface Killah GOAT JayZ Kendrick Lamar Lauryn Hill Lil Wayne Nas Notorious BIG Rakim Snoop Dogg

Snoop Dogg Aint Happy About Billboard’s “10 Greatest Rappers Of All Time” List

Uncle Snoop Dogg wasn't too pleased when Billboard released their "10 Greatest Rappers of All Time" list.

The highly acclaimed music publication ranked the top ten G.O.A.T. emcees as follows:
  1. The Notorious B.I.G.
  2. Jay Z
  3. Eminem
  4. Rakim
  5. Nas
  6. Andre 3000
  7. Lauryn Hill
  8. Ghostface Killah
  9. Kendrick Lamar
  10. Lil Wayne
Billboard provided the following explanation for why the selections were chosen:
Diehard fans, music nerds and critics love lists. But in rap, rankings like this take on a special level of import: aside from moving a crowd (shouts to Rakim), MC means proving you’re the best. In no other genre do artists so blatantly express their desire to outdo competition.
That made Billboard’s editorial list a more high-stakes undertaking than usual. Many favorites — Kane, Drake, KRS — didn’t make it, and each of those omissions hurts deep down. Note: we’re ranking these folks as MCs, not artists.
That’s why Dr. Dre and Kanye West, for example, two legendary producer-rappers who don’t match the mic skills of those listed here, were left out. Even Tupac, perhaps the most influential rapper ever globally, is arguably known more for great songwriting than dominant bars.
Uncle Snoop quickly took to Instagram to blast the list not for omitting himself from the list but the fact they failed to include TUPAC.

I must agree with Uncle Snoop - Biggie and Pac should be holding down the number 1 spot together. Period.

In Birdman Interview Lil Wayne Say what? whatsBeef? Young Thug

Young Thug Opens Up About Lil Wayne, Birdman, and Wearing Women Clothes

In a recent interview with GQ.com, The Weird Al Yankovic of Hip Hop, Young Thug opened up about various topics. Here's what I got from the interview:

-He's not at all excited about his new album 'Slime Season 2"
GQ: You excited about the new album?

Young Thug: Not really.

-He doesn't care about critics complaining about his Pootie Tang lyrics.
GQ: People’s biggest complaint is that you mumble. Does that ever get to you?
Young Thug: It don’t really get to me. When it gets to me, I’ll do it worse. I’ll make a whole fucking mumbling album.

-He was the cool weird guy in high school
GQ: You’re pretty weird now. Were you weird in high school?
Young Thug: All the people in school probably thought I was weird, so I was quiet the whole time I was in school. But I always paid attention to every single thing.

GQ: How was it interacting with the girls? Were you popular with them?
Young Thug: Of course. Yeah. Girls like the cool guys. You would’ve liked the cool guy instead of the class clown, right?

-He will never admit to trying to get Lil Wayne killed
GQ: Plain and simple: Did you try to have Lil Wayne killed?
Young Thug: Fuck no.

-He doesn't care much about Lil Wayne's issue with him
GQ: Does it bother you that Wayne, one of your idols, clearly has a personal problem with you?
Young Thug: Maybe if I was a peasant it would. But of course it bothers me some, because that’s what I always wanted. It was so weird: I always wanted to be in the studio with Wayne. I would tell Birdman to bring him over, but he never fucking came.

-He believes Lil Wayne is Young Thug 5 years ago. I beg to defer no one knew who he was.
GQ: The first time I saw you perform was five years ago...
Young Thug: That was when I was Wayne. And he’s me now.

-He's then asked to clarify what the heck he just said
GQ: What do you mean?
Young Thug: I feel like if he had the chance to be himself or me, he’d be me. If I had the chance to be myself or him, I’d be him. That man is the greatest. If we had the biggest problem in the world, I’d still say he’s the best rapper in the fucking world. Everybody knows nobody raps better than the fucking boss.

-LOL, he calls Meek Mill the other guy with regards to his recent beef with Drake
GQ: How do you feel about the whole Meek Mill/Drake beef? Tough month for Meek, right?
Young Thug: Tough month for Drake, tough life for the other guy.

*side-eye* He wears women clothes because they are slimmer and he's a Rock-Star. He has been cross-dressing since he was 12, and his dad had sense.
GQ: Why do you wear women’s clothing?
Young Thug: Because women’s clothes are [slimmer] than men’s clothes. The jeans I got on right now, they’re women’s jeans. But they fit how they’re supposed to fit. Like a rock star. The only thing I probably have in men’s is, like, briefs. T-shirts. Ninety percent of my clothes are women’s.

GQ: When did you start wearing predominantly women’s clothing?
Young Thug: When I was 12 or some shit, started gambling, getting my own money. My dad wouldn’t buy me tight pants. I had to get my own money to buy them.

ForeverMeah says... i guess.
