Lyor Cohen Hospitalized With Pulmonary Embolism

Well-known Industry Executive, Lyor Cohen (or as DMX was say Li-ar Cohen) has been recently hospitalized since Saturday after suffering a pulmonary embolism, according to a dramatic series of videos on his Snapchat account. It's been reported that Cohen was rushed to the hospital not long after attending N.W.A’s induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on Friday night.

In the Snapchat videos, showing the Exec wearing an oxygen mask saying "So it would take much more to kill me than a submassive pulmonary embolism,"

and in other videos he continues, “If it wasn’t for my son, and my best friend Norm, I would have been a goner,” and “There’s actually nothing I could do. Anybody could get it. It’s a little blood clot that goes right up the body into the lungs and heart.”

On Monday afternoon, his agency provided a statement that reads in part: "[Cohen] is currently being treated and in stable condition at a local hospital. He is expected to make a full recovery and will be back in action very soon. Lyor, his family and all at 300 Entertainment would like to thank everyone for their continued love and support."

A rep for the company was uncertain when Cohen will be released from the hospital.

A pulmonary embolism is the sudden blockage of a blood vessel in the lung, usually caused by a blood clot. In most cases the clots are small, but if large enough to stop blood-flow to the lung, they can be fatal if not treated expediently.

"One thing I do know, the fact that I’m so in shape and worked out all these years, it helped me survive it," Cohen continues in the post. "Had I waited, like I typically want to do, had it not been for [son] Az and Norm insisting… The doctor said if I’d waited another four hours, I would be toast."

Bumble Bee Issued a Recall of 31,579 Canned Chunk Light Tuna

Put that sandwich down! Sources are reporting that thousands of cases of canned tuna are being recalled over possible spoilage that could lead to life-threatening illness.

Bumble Bee Foods has issued a voluntary recall of 31,579 cases of canned chunk light tuna that may be contaminated, reports the L.A. Times

According to the San Diego-based company, the recall is due to "process deviations" during the sterilization process at a third-party packing facility. So far, the company says that no illnesses have been reported.

The recall involves cans with three specific UPC codes of the "chunk light" variety that were processed in February and distributed nationally. The company says that the deviations could result in contamination by "spoilage organisms or pathogens," which could lead to severe illness.

"The recall is being initiated out of an abundance of caution due to the possible under-processing of the affected products discovered by the co-packer during its routine quality audit," Bumble Bee said in a statement about the recall. "Bumble Bee is working closely with the co-packer and the FDA to expedite the removal of products from commerce."

In the meantime, if you've bought any of the questionable cans, you're advised to throw them out. And if you're looking for a refund, hang on to the label or receipt and give Bumble Bee a buzz at (888) 820-1947.

Prayers of DMX: Rapper Still Hospitalized

Monday Night, Rapper Earl Simmons, better known as DMX, was rushed to hospital due to an alleged asthma attack. Now that story is moving further and further from the truth while some say X may have suffered a drug overdose.

Yonkers cops responded to a call about an unconscious male at a Ramada Inn just after 6 PM. We're told when cops arrived DMX was on the ground in the parking lot next to a parked car. Cops quickly determined he was lifeless, not breathing with no pulse and immediately began CPR, TMZ reports.

God willing, after a minute of CPR X's pulse came back.

An alleged witness on scene told cops DMX had ingested some sort of powder before lapsing into unconsciousness. Cops gave him Narcan, an antidote to narcotic ODs. DMX became "semi-conscious" and was taken to the hospital.

DMX denies taking any powder or drugs. He says all he remembers is having shortness of breath after suffering bronchitis for a couple of days.

A family member says X asked for his inhaler (for asthma) right before he fell unconscious. They were not able to get it to him in time.

He's reportedly still in the hospital but is in stable conditions.

ForeverMeah says... I sincerely pray he pulls through.

#Prayers: Lil Boosie Confirms That He Has Kidney Cancer

The Baton Rouge rapper, whose real name is Torrence Hatch, but better known as Boosie Badazz, aka Lil Boosie  has confirmed that he has kidney cancer.

“I need all my fans to pray for me,” Boosie wrote. “Doctor just told me I have cancer on my kidneys. Prayer is power that’s why I’m letting the world know prayfaboosie.”
Seems Lil Boosie PR team was not pleased with how he broke the story and instructed him to yank it off Instagram, TMZ reported.

Lil Boosie was released from prison in March last year after serving five years for drug possession and probation violation. The rapper was also acquitted of a murder charge.

The Louisiana rapper has also been battling diabetes for years and fell ill onstage during a May 2015 performance in New York City after he reportedly didn't take his diabetes medications.

Prayers go up to Lil Boosie and his family. Time is one thing we never have enough of but somehow waste it the most.

#MedicalMinute: Coca-Cola Bribs Health Experts Over the Last Five Years

Do you really need another reason to stop drinking Coca-Cola?

If so, sources has reported last month +Coca-Cola  disclosed its practice of paying researchers and health professionals millions of dollars. It spent $21.8 million to fund pro-industry research and $96.8 million on partnerships with health organizations, including $2.1 million directly paying health experts.

I couldn’t stop wondering — what kind of health expert accepts Coca-Cola funding? Turns out that most are dietitians with a flair for local media outreach — a surprising number of whom could be played by Kristen Wiig in the made-for-TV movie of this scandal.

Of the 115 individuals Coca-Cola admitted to funding, here’s a breakdown:

By sector, 57 percent (65) are dietitians, 20 percent (23) are academics, 7 percent (8) are medical professionals (mostly Doctors), 6 percent (7) are fitness experts, 5 percent (6) are authors, 3 percent (3) are chefs, and 1 percent (1) are food representatives. I was not able to identify sectors for two of the funded experts.

The Coca-Cola website says these health experts were paid travel grants, related expenses and professional fees — but doesn’t disclose what specifically they were being paid for.

Many of the dietitians seem to be members of the Academy of Nutrition & Dietetics recruited around the campaign to promote the new mini Coke cans as a healthy snack.

In AIDS Health News HIV Hospital Error

New York Hospital Exposes Hundreds to HIV

Did you hear? New York hospital exposes hundreds of patients to HIV by ‘accidentally’ reusing needles.
Even those who do not work in the medical profession know that under no circumstances should you use an instrument that penetrates the skin on more than one person without that sharp instrument being sterilized and washed each time. Apparently, a New York hospital did not.

South Nassau Communities Hospital in Oceanside on Long Island, near New York City, said patients may have received insulin from a pen reservoir — not a single-use disposable needle — that could have been used on more than one patient.“The risk of infection from this is extremely low,” the hospital said in a statement, adding it was recommending patients “be tested for hepatitis B, hepatitis C and HIV.” When asked if anyone was confirmed to have been infected a hospital spokeswoman said, “not to my knowledge.”

The pen-shaped insulin injector devices are often used by hospitals to give the medication to patients and contain a reservoir or cartridge, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention report. The pens should be limited to one patient because regurgitation of blood into the insulin cartridge can occur after injection, creating a risk of blood-borne pathogen transmission, even when the needle is changed, according to the CDC.

Some 200 of the more than 4,000 patients who were warned have signed up for free blood testing, WABC-TV reported.

The hospital seems to have changed its policy on the devices, though it was unclear when the change occurred. “South Nassau has already implemented a hospital-wide policy that bans the use of insulin pens and permits only the use of single-patient-use vials to administer prescribed insulin treatments to patients,” the statement said.

According to the CDC, HIV can lead to AIDS, or the acquired immunodeficiency syndrome, and hepatitis refers to a group of viral infections that affect the liver.

The hospital is now offering free blood testing services. It will take the patients a few weeks to receive their results. If you know anyone who has been exposed please make sure they get to a medical facility immediately. (source)

In Fibroids Hair Relaxers Health News

Study Linking Relaxers To Fibroids?

A study in the American Journal of Epidemiology has linked hair relaxers to uterine fibroids, as well as early puberty in young girls.
Scientists followed more than 23,000 pre-menopausal Black American women from 1997 to 2009 and found that the two- to three-times higher rate of fibroids among black women may be linked to chemical exposure through scalp lesions and burns resulting from relaxers.
Women who got their first menstrual period before the age of 10 were also more likely to have uterine fibroids, and early menstruation may result from hair products black girls are using, according to a separate study published in the Annals of Epidemiology last summer.

McDonald’s Heroin Happy Meal

McDs

You want fries and a vial of heroin with that?

A Pittsburgh McDonald's employee was arrested for dealing the drug using Happy Meal boxes, according to reports. People would roll up to the drive-thru window and use the code phrase, "I'd like to order a toy," at which point the accused employee would hook them up. Customers more in the mood for hard drugs than Big Macs were allegedly instructed to order this way, then pick up their "order" at the next window.
