Irv Gotti Not Too Happy About VH1’S ‘The Breaks’...Did You Watch it?

Hip Hop fans worldwide gathered together last night (after Love & Hip Hop of course) to catch Vh1's original movie 'The Breaks'.  The film is set in New York City and shines a light on Hip Hop in 1990's although the music was from the late 80's just before the culture took over mainstream America. While many people were pleased to watch stars such as Mack Wilds, Wood Harris and Method Man it seems like one famed record executive and entrepreneur was not at all pleased.

Irv Gotti took to Instagram to express his issues with the movie.

Gotti writes,
Watching this Breaks Shit on Vh1. 1st off I didn't like the commercials they was running playing the Bridge is Over and the part where KRS says Queens Keeps on Faking it!! So now when I'm watching this watered down bullshit which is pissing me off cause they are not portraying Hip Hop Culture accurately!! But they still making my Borough look soft. Let me tell y'all something. I'm from that Purple Part in the pic I posted. And listen. Ain't nothing weak or soft about QB. And not only that @Vh1. QB has produced more superstar Rappers in hip hop than any other borough or place in the world for that matter. Shit looks like someone who doesn't know shit about our culture made this shit. And usually I would have kept quiet. But after the commercial and me watching this bullshit shit on my Borough. I had to post something. And to all my Hip Hop Culture people out there. That wants to see REAL depiction of OUR CULTURE. Sit tight. I'm on my way!! And I'm not a hater. At all. None of that is in my DNA. I love to see niggas win. But your not gonna disrespect QB. #queensgetthemoney #murderinctvseries Making Hip Hop look fucking Lame man. #gotmepissed #visionaryideas #wecomingmotherfuckers

In BioMovie Biopic BlackHistory Nina Simon

Long-Overdue Nina Simone Biopic Released in December?

Since the success of the "NWA's Straight Outta Compton" biopic it seems like everyone has one or is working on one. Although I can truly do without the“Dogg Pound 4 Life” Biopic that's scheduled to be released late 2016 - I am however very excited about the long overdue biopic of Ms. Nina Simon.

'Nina,' a biopic about the rise of Nina Simone starring Zoe Saldana, will hit theaters in December with RLJ Entertainment acquiring North American rights to the project, Entertainment Weekly reports.

“I had the special privilege early in my career of working with Ms. Simone while coordinating a performance for former D.C. Delegate Walter E. Fauntroy and knowing first-hand of her major contribution to the soul and emotion of the Civil Rights Movement,” RLJE chairman and BET founder Robert L. Johnson said in a statement. “I look forward as I am sure many others will, to her story and legacy being made available by RLJ Entertainment to consumers on various media platforms in the coming months.”

Written and directed by newcomer Cynthia Mort, Nina follows the rise of the legendary American vocalist, a 15-time Grammy nominee known for iconic standards like “My Baby Just Cares For Me,” “Feeling Good,” and “To Be Young Gifted and Black.”

Her struggles to balance her career and her activism left her living alone in France, feeling isolated from her own country. It was there that she met Clifton Henderson (David Oyelowo), who became her assistant.

Nina’s release has been delayed for several years, with casting changes, public controversy, and even a lawsuit. Mary J. Blige was originally attached to star as Simone back in 2010, but she dropped out due to scheduling conflicts.

She was replaced by Saldana, but some criticized the new casting, saying that Saldana, who is of Dominican and Puerto Rican descent, was too petite and light-skinned to play Simone.

The film’s release was delayed further when Mort herself filed a lawsuit against the production company last year.

Simone’s daughter, Lisa Simone Kelly, has also criticized Nina, choosing instead to work on this year’s Netflix documentary about her mother, What Happened, Miss Simone?

In Biopic Celebrity Children Dr. Dre Eazy-E NWA

Eazy-E’s Daughter Speaks Out on “Straight Outta Compton” N.W.A Biopic

Eazy-E’s daughter, Erin Bria Wright, recently spoke with Rolling Out to share her thoughts on the recently released N.W.A biopic, Straight Outta Compton.

“Overall, I think it’s an incredible film,” Erin Wright says. “It’s very powerful and historical, and I’m really excited for everyone to see it. I also have to speak on Jason Mitchell, who portrayed my father. He just did a phenomenal job.”

Speaking on the portrayal of her father by actor Jason Mitchell, Erin Wright says that she feels no one could have played the role better.

“In real life, Jason and I have hung out and he’s my really good friend, but when you see him in costume and on the big screen, it was kind of scary,” she says. “I mean, I literally felt like he was my father, and he did a great job. Even just the memories that I have with my dad, and all the stories I’ve heard, and everything that I’ve imagined in all of these years is what I saw on the screen from Jason and I could not be more proud. I don’t think anybody could have played my father better than he did.”

Wright also spoke on the lasting legacy of the film.

“I think this is a classic film, and they are a classic group like The Rolling Stones, and The Beatles and this is a story about the revolution,” Erin Wright says. “Even today it’s still so relevant with a lot of things that they touch on from police brutality to racism and things that are still going on today, and it’s very informative and I think people are going to love it forever.”

Erin, who was just four-years-old when her father passed away, also opened up about what her mother has told her regarding Eazy-E’s relationship with the other N.W.A members in his final days.

“They did have a lot of issues behind Jerry but they were younger then, and they didn’t really understand the business back then correctly,” she says. “What my dad and Jerry did was equivalent to what Dr. Dre and Jimmy Iovine did today. So I think with them being older now, they get it. At the time, things may have seemed off, but before my father passed away, he did speak with Dre personally and he did want to get them back together. But, unfortunately, he did end up passing before all of that could happen.”

Elsewhere in the conversation, Erin spoke on a documentary that herself, her mother and her sister are working on that is set to detail Eazy-E’s life and in particular, the scandal surrounding the rapper’s death.

“My sister, my mother Tracy, and I are producing a documentary which will go into more of my dad’s life and his story,” she says. “The movie touched a little bit on his life, but overall, it was the story of N.W.A. and how Ruthless was started, and all of that but it just wasn’t about Eazy-E. So in the documentary, I’m going to touch more on my dad’s life but it’s mainly going to focus on his death and a lot of things that people don’t know including all of the scandal behind it, the conspiracy behind it, and what happened afterwards.” (source)
