Rolling Out reported that Lil Mo has certainly had more than her fair share of drama when it comes to reality TV thanks to her starring role on “R&B Divas L.A.” But the diva recently found herself in drama of a new kind involving MTV’s “Catfish” when she revealed that one of its most infamous new stars is her estranged former stepson.
One of the most popular figures to show up this season was rapper-producer Kidd Cole (real name Jerez Coleman), who claimed to be signed to Kanye West’s label and has scammed multiple people out of money.
Even more shocking though was Lil Mo’s revelation that Coleman is the biological son of her ex-husband, Gus Stone, who also fathered Mo’s daughters, Heaven and God’Iss-Love.
“Big shoutout to MY “estranged” SON!! @colepushaz! i cannot sit here and LOL and point fingers at a young man that has the SAME FATHER as my daughters heaven and Godiss love. i saw the MTV special “Catfish” and my heart was saddened,” Mo wrote in an Instagram post after seeing the episode.
Recently, Mo opened up to TheJasmineBrand.com about Coleman and claimed that she still sees him as her daughters’ brother. Mo also claimed that Coleman is not a bad guy; he’s just a kid who grew up without a family or proper guidance.
“Kidd Cole never lived with us. He lived seven minutes away from us in Anne Arundel County in Maryland. I saw him riding a bike in a neighborhood where my parents and I owned a home. I told my ex to stop the car I saw a boy that looked like Jerez. He pulled up to the car startled and said, ‘Hi daddy.’ My heart dropped as we had NO contact; just child support payments, that I made out of my personal account. I never saw him again after that until I found him on IG and saw him on ‘Catfish,’” Mo explained.
Mo says that she was surprised to see him on “Catfish” and even more surprised when she asked Coleman’s father about him.
“I was very surprised. I had heard he was producing and working with Jaden Smith. When I asked his father was it true, he replied that he was crazy,” Mo said.
Mo explained that when she was partially in Coleman’s life, his father refused to properly take care of him.
“I don’t know their situation now. But when I was married to his father, the child support payments went to D.C. I paid them, because his dad wouldn’t pay them for reasons that I do not even want to repeat. Those payments also helped him restore his driver’s license and kept him out of jail,” said Mo.
Mo went on to warn fans of the show not to judge Coleman because his life has been harder than any reality TV camera could show.
“Kidd Cole could be any one of our children. While he is still alive, God bless him and pray that the big break I know he deserves, it be granted,” Mo said. – nicholas robinson
