Wendy Williams Donates to the Smithsonian: How You Doin'?

A pink, bedazzled microphone. An ombre-style wig. A pair of red-bottomed Christian Louboutin heels.

They’re now all part of the Smithsonian Institution, thanks to Wendy Williams. The New Jersey native just became the first talk show host to donate to the National Museum of American History in Washington, D.C.
I feel like it’s an out-of-body experience,” Williams said yesterday, minutes after filming a segment for “The Wendy Williams Show” with a museum curator. “Going down in history. I can’t believe it.”

Williams will also donate the first outfit she wore to be photographed for the talk show — a royal purple wrap dress — to the museum.

Now it’s someplace for my grandkids to go,” said Williams, who was born in Asbury Park and grew up in Ocean Township before moving to Montclair. “Each item has sentimental value.

The wig is among her favorite wardrobe picks, she said, so much so that she already owned two. “I still have one to wear,” she said. Another item being donated is a script for the 500th episode of the show.

A visit from Smithsonian curator Dwight Blocker Bowers will air during today’s episode of “The Wendy Williams Show,” at 10 a.m. on Fox.

“It was very official,” said Williams, who has worked as a radio host for 23 years and was inducted into the Radio Hall of Fame in 2009. She isn’t sure why the museum picked her out of a sea of talk show hosts, but does know “The Wendy Williams Show” means accessories, not just talk.

You can’t be inducted into the museum with a great conversation,” she said. “Everybody knows I’m a shoe girl, everyone knows I’m from Jersey.
