Memphis Bleek is in his feelings over one of Jay Z‘s most iconic shout-out on the remix of Kanye West‘s Late Registration lead single, “Diamonds”.
Bleek could be one hit away his whole careerAs long as I'm alive he’s a millionaireAnd even if I die he’s in my will somewhereSo he could just kick back and chill somewhere, oh yeahHe don’t even have to write rhymesThe Dynasty like my money, last three lifetimes.
While at the time, it appeared to be a genuine shout-out from Jay Z to his friend of many, many years, but Bleek revealed to Jack Thriller and Thisis50 that it may have thrown a monkey wrench in the natural progression of his career.
According to Bleek, his expectations were never the same to begin with, considering the fact that he rose in the rap game in the same lane and manner as Jay Z, and every time he would drop new music, it was looked down upon as not being the same caliber as Mr. Carter’s. (source)
