Mike Epps Cast As Richard Pryor, Sorry Nick Cannon

Mike Epps has secured the role of the late, great comedian Richard Pryor in the new biopic. 

Oprah Winfrey broke the announcement on her Twitter, along with Lee Daniels, who both have a key hand in producing the biopic. Oprah appeared to be ecstatic with his first table read. Following the news, Epps thanked Richard’s widow, Jennifer Lee Pryor and his fans for the opportunity, assuring them that Winfrey and Daniels had made the right decision in their casting job.

If you recall earlier this year Comedian Nick Cannon was also aiming for this role when he spoke with TMZ: 

Cannon said he's been meeting with director Lee Daniels about the project and has been doing all sorts of things to get ready ... like growing out his hair and taking up smoking.
